Research Interests:
- Intellectual and religious movements in the later middle period, especially in the 15th century
- Scholarly networks in the Islamic world, 14th-15th centuries
- Cultural and intellectual capitals (Herat, Tabriz, Istanbul, and a growing interest in Cairo)
- Language and its consciousness as a part of intellectual history
- Contextualizing/making sense of intellectual history
Current Projects:
- Timurid Intellectual and Spiritual Contests: ‘Abd al-Raḥmān Jāmī (1414-1492)
- “Intellectual ramifications of Arabic instruction: Locating the Fawāʼid al-Żiyāʼiyya in the tradition of Arabic instruction.”
- “Reconstructing the Taftazānī-Jurjānī Debate.”
